Derek (or Del, as he likes to be known) writes lots of music in his free time in a whole range of genres from classical to dance and his music has been used in advertising campaigns and UK terrestrial shows.
Derek is also a long-suffering football fan and can be seen cheering on his childhood team Dunfermline Athletic (apparently the best team in the world), and he enjoys cycling, playing tennis and going to the cinema and theatre. His love of eating is well known, and enjoys his native Scottish dish of haggis and deep fried confectionary on many occasions - devouring some of them in record time. His main claim to fame was when Gloria Hunniford called him a "gadget freak", referring to his love of gadgets and technology! Del’s parents were so proud.
